I am aware of course of using baking soda as a subsitute for toothpaste. any others?

I use denture cleaning tablets (generic ones) for soaking my nails to make them really white! Also, scrubbing your nails with a whitening toothpaste works, just use an old toothbrush.
I also like to make a homemade hand scrub out of salt and olive oil to make a paste, squirt in some liquid soap and scrub with no water until you've scrubbed really good - great for cold weather and that dry scaly skin! Then follow up with your favorite lotion.
