My girl thinks Destroy all Humans looks like the best game ever, so i'm thinking playstation. Is this game any good?
Oh, and I dont want anything too mature for their age, although I dont want it too babyish. I appreciate the help.

PS2 Is a very reasonable game now because they have released the PS3 which I wish was in my budget to get for myself, but anyway there are so many cool games for kids on PS2 and I think it would be a great choice I think it runs about 129.00 or so , for kids that age go with the PS2, I am a little bummed out about mine is the second one I have bought because the first one I had set ontop of my console TV and my X gf son whom had ADD yanked the controller so hard it made the game console hit the floor he did this 4 times in a row like 5 minutes apart so I had to buy another, but now it doesnt seem to save any game play to my memory cards go figure? Anyway is a good game im sure mine has a rare defect or something

First of all, ALL games are should be played with parental guidance, either with the parent by the side of the child and/or the parent provide consultation regarding the game.

Don't be tricked with ratings, an E rated game can be the same as a T rated game and vice versa.

As for the games.

Sony PlayStation 2 has a lot of games, it probably got the most games in comparison of other consoles in its era. There's a diverse amount of games for it.

Nintendo GameCube has a lot of family friendly games, but there are also a lot of diversity in the games for it, but not as diverse as the PlayStation 2.

Microsoft Xbox games seem to be more adult oriented than the others, but there are also some diversity in the games for it, but it got the least diversity in comparison of the others.

Their attributes are also shared by their sucessors: PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360.

If your kids love to share games, pay attention to what their friends are playing. And also, let your kid play a game first before buying it.

As for the PlayStation 2.

I recommend "Grafitti Kingdom", it's an action platform game that feels like a Spyro the Dragon game.

Nobody truly died in it and it has lots of humor. The player's character (Prince Pixel) can change into many different forms (Graffitis), and also you can also make your own forms (Graffiti).

Even if the game's story end and you got all the items, you can still have fun creating your own Graffitis.

As for "Destroy all Humans".

It seems to be fun, though might have a little bit anti-human propaganda.

You can go for the playstation 2. There are all sorts of games for their ages. The Nintendo Game Cube is more focused on younger gamers, as is the same with the new Nintendo Wii. I think the PS3 is overrated. I have the xbox 360. The other choice you can make is the original xbox, there are definately alot of games for that system. I hope this helps, and have yourself a Merry Christmas.

If you choose the ps2 try "Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy". Great game for young and old. Beautiful and funny the perfect casual game. Also "Mario Party", a fun console "boardgame" that you will be able to play with your kids.

For younger gamers you can't go wrong with a Gamecube. Some fantastic games for the child in all of us - esp. Animal Crossing, Chibi Robot, Super Smash Bros, Wario Ware Inc, Super Monkey Ball the list is (almost) endless. These are not just great games for young children they are great games period. This would be my personal choice as I love Nintendos attitude to game design.

I wouldn't waste money on a Wii just yet as it is, so far, an unknown quantity. Do not get an xbox.

If you need any further advice I, would happily answer any queries via email.

The most kid friendly system is the Nintendo Gamecube @ 55 dollars if it is used, 100 dollars if it is new) (go to EB games for used). PS2 (99 dollars used, 120 dollars new) is more for teenagers and adults, although there are some kid friendly games. Destroy All Humans! is rated T for teen (13 and up). Buy something that is rated E for everyone (this is common for Gamecube). The newer systems out there with similar feature is the Wii, but maybe too expensive? Buy "The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker" for Gamecube or "Megaman: Anniversary Collection" for PS2.

Playstation 2 and Xbox are both going for cheap. I believe at Ebay games ps2s are $120 and Xbox is probably similar. Destroy all Humans 1 and 2 are both very entertaining games. Xbox has slightly better graphics than ps2, has four person multiplayer and has a wealth of titles. Ps2 is very similar.

If you get Xbox:
Prince of Persia Sands of Time
Destroy all Humans
The Star Wars Games are excellent (Lego, KOTOR, etc)
Fushion Frenzy

PS2:
Destroy all humans
Final Fantasy series (very popular though not everyone likes rpgs)
Racing Games: Gran Turismo, Need for Speed.

I personally have an xbox and dont like racing games as much. Really its a question of taste. Find out what kinds of games your kids like other than Destroy all Humans. Roleplaying, Action-adventure, puzzles, etc.

Each system has their strengths.

Dont forget that PS2 is backwards compatible if their are a good Playstation games you have.

All of the games Ive listed above should be age appropiate. Prince of Persia is one of the greatest games (in my opinion). It was innovative, challenging, and beautiful.

i do not encourage the nintendo wii the controllers have been known to slip out of peoples hands and break your tv. but a playstation two is a great starting system. it has a basic controller and they have games for all ages

You should consider the Nintendo Wi. It is geared more for kids, but has a lot of good games for teens and adults as well. I have an xbox 360 but I think your kids would like a nintendo wi.

I think the best thing to do is go to http://www.gamefaqs.com and then read the game reviews there as it will help you make the best selection for your kids.
