Yes, yes, yes!! I cannot imagine life without my little boy who happens to have DS. Our life is not filled with sorrow, or heartache....he is an absolute joy and experiences every feeling and emotion that any other child experiences. In my opinion a choice not to have a child because of a diagnosis of Down syndrome is simply selfishness of parents who are too hung up on an unrealistic idea of perfection and that is not justification for killing a child.

To be born!! The people that I have met with Down's Syndrome are the sweetest most loving people. I couldn't imagine a world without them!
What would you consider a "normal" human being? I think it is the closest approximation to what you get when you combine all variations together. If you got rid of all variations? You'd end up with a very mediocre human race. No geniuses, no vividly beautiful people, no incredibly fast people, no incredibly sweet and loving people. If there were no blind people, the braille language never would have been invented, if there were no deaf people, sign language never would have been invented. Differences in human beings are what make our world incredibly varied and amazing. If we tried to control what children would be born because they might have struggles in their lives, who could we not eliminate? Everyone goes through struggles, but the struggles are what make people strong and remember that we are all human and give people compassion towards one another.
No one really knows the reason we are all here, but we are all in this together. There is no reason to not have a child just because they will be different from you or will have struggles. That child with Down's Syndrome will probably teach the world a thing or two during his or her lifetime. Give the child a chance!

yes the child should be born, downs syndrome people are nowdays leading very close to normal lives, they will always need some degree of oversight, but many do hold jobs and live independently with minimal assistance. Wife was a special ed teacher for 15 years

To be born, yes! That child will always remain innocent & love life. But I'm afraid most people are choosing to abort; I see very few babies/children anymore with Down's Syndrome. Parent's with DS children share in their child's joy of living.

Yes, it is not the child's fault it is that way. It is a gift in itself for that child to even be born. They have all kinds of programs now to help parents deal with that plus if you just can't handle it you could give it up for adoption or put it in a foster home, let life prevail!

Given a choice, I would say not.
It's a heartbreaking situation to be in, but it's not easy looking after a child with downs. Once they are born you love them no matter what, of course, but if you have a choice during the pregnancy, I would say not.
I know people with downs kids, and life is hard for the whole family.

Doesn't a child with Down Syndrome deserve to live just as much as any other child? I'd gladly accept a child with any disabilty. They all bring joy to our hearts no matter what.

I think a disabled child is just as much of a person as any other. Would you choose not to have a child because they might be blind, deaf, gay, autistic? A male? Or a female? Have brown eyes?
