I had a miscarriage when I was as far along as you would be now if you are miscarrying. Get a blood test right away (quantitative, not qualitative) so that you will not always wonder if you were ever pregnant at this time--also, your HcG level can indicate whether or not it is a healthy pregnancy (though you might to take another a couple of days later to confirm whether or not your HcG level is rising or falling--falling would indicate a miscarriage). Any hospital can get a pcp to order this for you. Bleeding does not ALWAYS indicate miscarriage, so there is still hope right now and finding about the HcG levels (best to have an ob order this and interpret it if you can find an OB right away) is the best thing you can do right now. I hope you are pregnant and your baby is okay. God bless!

Hi Honey.
I imagine that you are feeling pretty miserable. Anytime that you are late and that is followed by a very heavy, unusual period it is easy to assume that you may have been pregnant. I am sure that there are many times that a woman has what she thinks is just an unusually heavy period and it is actually a miscarriage. The point is that there is really very little one would need to do in either case.. Nature usually does a very good job of taking care of this type of situation. Unless you have complications there is really no reason to seek medical attention. Now, IF you are having extreme pain, IF the bleeding is so heavy and so profuse that it scares you, then you should call a doctor or go in and be seen by someone. If you had been more like two weeks or so late I would tell you to save any odd looking clots that you pass and give the doctor the opportunity to biopsy them. But if you were only a few days late that is not necessary.
If the bleeding continues far beyond what would be a normal length of time for you, you may have retained a bit of tissue that will need a D&C to take care of. This is unlikely though in the very early weeks.
If I were you I would just try to take it easy, rest and eat nutritious meals and take a bit of extra good care of yourself. You should be fine without any intervention of any sort.
If you were trying to conceive this should not slow you down much at all. Just keep trying and it will happen when the time is right.
Take care honey and feel free to write to me if it would help.
Love and Blessings
Lady T~

It could be, or it could just be a heavy period. Best seek medical advice if you aren't sure.

Speaking as a medical assistant I would recommend that you go see someone about this immediately! It could be a miscarriage or something else. Please go see someone even if its a free clinic.
