I put my Nokia Phone on ebay, and someone in the US has bought it for £460.
He also bought a Sony Phone from someone else yesterday for £2100!
What's he up to? I haven't invoiced him yet.

The last bid before he stepped in was £80. Why on Earth would he put up £460?
I have little doubt that something is askew.

He is about to con you silly! He could pay via PayPal using stolen accounts and you won't realize at first but then PayPal will just take back the stolen money leaving you with nothing.
And mikey you stupid person, the money could be stolen from another account so PayPal could take it back at a later date. Fool.

Sounds like you are talking to rubbish to me. If he bid £460 and the last bid was only £80 then the phone would sell for eighty something pounds not his maximum bid. That is how ebay works, you would never know what his max bid was until it was reached so for him to have won it at that price then more than one person must have been bidding on it to get it up that high and the other person's last bid would have been around £450-459

I would probably go with your gut feeling, if it feels wrong, then it probably is...however, as was stated before, you don't send anything till you have the cash anyway. Invoice him, give him the 10 days (or however long you have stated in your Ebay listing) to pay, if he doesn't report him to Ebay as a non paying bidder, at that time you're given the option to relist (usually in those cases Ebay won't charge for both listings...as long as they know that it's being relisted due to NPB {non paying bidder}). Additionally you also have the option of doing a "second chance offer" meaning that the one who bid 80 would have the chance to buy it for what their last bid was.

Make sure he pays by paypal, that way you're covered. If he tries to send you a huge cheque for you to cash and then take the money out of though report him not only to e-bay but the police both sides of the water. It's a really common scam-the cheque clears, you take the money out for him, take yours and send rest back BUT the cheque is dodgy and the paying bank re-claim it, leaving you up to your eyes in debt-with no money for the phone to boot!
Of course it could be something as simple as he can't get that model over there-although in my experience if it smells a funny colour then it usually is!

See if he coughs up the money, if not report him to ebay and paypal, if paypal is one of your payment methods that is, most stuff I have sold on ebay I have nearly allways recieved payment straight away via paypal, or very shortly after the listing closed, who knows what his intentions are at the moment, but I would be extra vigilent over this one

when you advertised it what payment details did you put on your advert.? If it is payable by paypal or bankers order etc dont worry about it send him the invoice but do not send the goods until you have received the payment and have had it cleared.
Keep the buyers address and all details on file just in case.

I wouldn't worry about it unless I didn't get paid. I sell on ebay & have rarely come across any fraud. My brother only buys expensive watches on there. I asked him why & he told me that he resells them at a much higher cost. Maybe that's what your guy is doing.

Maybe they are just gullible or have lots of money to burn. Go ahead and send an invoice...get your money.
