She said after having her 2 kids that she sometimes leaks when she lifts heavy things. She can't control her bladder anymore. Does this always happen? I haven't heard of it before.

If you do your Kegal exercises( squeezing and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles that control the flow of urine) then there shouldn't be to much of a problem with it. Although I do my Kegals and am pregnant with my fourth child and sometimes leak when I sneeze really hard. Hope this helps

Hi there. Yes, it is very common. Many women who have had children find that they will lose a small amount of urine when they laugh, sneeze, cough, or as you say, lift heavy things. It is so common that it is almost taken in stride when women get older. It is called stress incontinence. It is darned inconvenient and uncomfortable but of no real medical import. There is as you mention surgery for it but I imagine it would have to become a constant problem before a woman would resort to surgery.
I hope I answered your question. As always it is a good idea to discuss anything like this with your doctor, especially if it is a new symptom for you.
Take care

incontinence does happen after a baby and during pregnancy too. My son was 2 1/2 and I was jumping on a trampoline and if i jumped high and landed hard,.....there it leaked......thats 2.5 years after birth. I think its because I had a baby(mind you, i didnt have to pee )

I've seen a show on vaginal rejuvination.....the girl on there just wanted to get tighter and according to her husband...it works!!

It depends on the person. It is common, but I do not have that problem because 3 of my kids were born by c-section.

It doesn't always happen but it is something that can happen. Sometimes child birth makes the muscles weak and they recommend doing exercises to strengthen the muscles down there. http://www.clevelandclinic.org/health/health-info/docs/1100/1125.asp?index=5745
