Well, what you prefer depends on what your needs are for the day!
On a normal day, wearing loose cut jeans or loose khakis, I'm a huge fan of Boxer Briefs. They are nice because you get the support you need, and the legs give an extra layer of protection from jagged things in your pockets that rub up against your thighs (i.e. keys, pens, etc).
However, some days I like wearing tight trousers for that extra attention from the office. On those days, you should wear briefs, or depending on how daring you are, even a G-string. Its not everyone's thing, but trousers slide on easier with no cloth to cause friction over the hips.
And then some days in the summer when you want to wear shorts, the best way to keep cool is again briefs, or for the daring a jock strap. The last thing you want is for your pocket monster to get out of country in a pair of nylon shorts. Briefs are better though so that it prevents 'hungry butt'. You don't want your shorts riding up when you sit down and stand back up again. But its very important to AVOID Boxer Briefs or Boxers in that case because nothing is more tasteless than seeing someones boxers shorts leg cuffs going lower than the shorts that are supposed to be covering them.
The best thing is to have a few of each and learn when the best situation is to wear them! After all, variety is the spice of life!

I prefer boxer briefs on any man of mine.
They are just so sexy. The hug the butt and the legs, and fit where nothing is hanging out in the open. The are just more appealing to the eye.
Don't get me wrong, I love the male anatomy, and what you can do to a girl with it. It is just not the most attractive thing to look at.
