I would think you only need to be concerned when they aren't moving, with my last baby i was stuck in the hospital at this point and being monitored, the nurses are not concerned about too much movement only too little and drops in the heartrate.

If you are concerned - absolutely call the doctor.

I found in my pregnancy that labor occured only after my daughter settled down and stopped moving for a while.

To try and quell your concern a little on the movements:
First time - 16 movements/minute
Second time - 25 movements/minute
Third time - 17 movements/minute

Though your number rose significantly, so did the time you were monitoring. At 37 weeks your baby could be setting up to position him/herself for delivery and the movements you are feeling could be a result of that preparation. Your muscles change and adjust to the movement of the baby to help him/her into position.

I had also found that sleep at all 36 weeks + was very very difficult.

Good luck and I wish you the best!

I am about 37 weeks as well... I recently read that at this time the baby starts to ingest the amniotic fluid and that frees up some space, so the baby can move around a little bit more. I doubt your baby will be able to move that much more... they gain half a pound a week!!! My baby has been super active too. I swear last night she was doing somersaults!

Not too much longer to go... good luck!

I wouldn't be to concerned about an increase in fetal activity. I know during my first pregnancy, my son became more active towards the end of the pregnancy. As for pains in my belly, they only occured when I actually started going into labor. But call your doctor anyway and let her know about the increase in fetal activity and the pains your having.
Take care--congrats!

You are ready to pop! i think you are just getting nervous, but yes call your dacotr. He will have you cvome in for stress tests and tell you to go home and call back when you are in pain. How exciting for you! Have you started nesting? Your baby is just so big now that you are noticing it more. When the baby was 3 pounds you just weren't able too feel it too much! It is natural to be concerned! Any good doctor will tell you that! Congratulations!

I was thinking about asking a similar question. I am 35 weeks and last night she moved so much and so low in my pelvis that it was hurting me! It felt like she was headbanging into my bladder! So, I can't say if it means baby is getting ready to pop out, but I do know that it's not UNcommon!
