There are people who might consider it to be to build bridges and make medicines that would help cure your children and loved ones
Those Men that have worked tirelessly to bring hope of a cure available to all without discriminating against anyone because of age, creed, or indeed gender would have to be considered.
There is a possibility that if your child was dying you would not turn down the cure because it is invented by a Man.
When you also consider all the other advances he has made to ease the burden of both genders without complaint despite getting what some might consider shamefull slurs perhaps it is only fair he has a little rest.
From a personal point of view i would hope you would not consider this answer to be meaningless.

What a great question.
Look at ghostbreeders answer- isn't that exactly the point of the question?
what ARE men for in this day and age when women can do everything and anything as well (and , in plenty of cases) better?
i'm not a man hating woman either, but i do wonder if that IS not the reason every other marriage in the UK ends in divorce because men these days are in limbo, they dont know who they are or what is expected of them, especially not young men whose mothers were the freethinking feminists of the 60's and 70's
I've been single for a few a years, and i don't have any financial ties to any man, everything i have acheived has been by myself, but the last two relationships i had , i was the high earner AND the homemaker. In my experience, my partners didnt know where this left them. I have found that it really damages a man (more than just his pride - it messes with his head) when his woman is the breadwinner.
and isn't that such a fundamentally simple thing? That a woman could earn the same or more than 'her man'? But (IMHO) they really cannot get their heads around it.
I decided to myself, in future i will only date men better off than me, to avoid those issues. Haven't found one yet.

Asking a general question like this can only be done with general references unfortunately. But, truly, men have accomplished much more than only their reproductive role would entail.
For instance,
Mozart was a man, as were the founders of democracy, the creators of magnificent recipes, and the inventors of flight, the telephone and basketball, to name a tiny bit.
There was the first man on the moon, as well as the second, third, forth and so on. In fact, there's the face on the moon and isn't that called the man in the moon?
And without men, where would that expression be? "Hey man, whasup?" :)
Without men women would have to blame themselves for any problems...that wouldn't be fun, would it?
I can go on, but why should I? After all, it's a man's world, yes? ;)

The differences in the roles men and women play in modern society is limited, men can nurture now and woman can provide, woman are more self dependent than they were in the past and men are more emotional so I dont think that the question really has an answer as men and women have the same roles and purpose.

My view is, it's not about what use men are for women and what use women are for men - it's more of a mutual thing. Basically, in this modern world, I think men and women are pretty much equal. Women have needs that the right man (or men) can fulfil. These needs include - in no particular order, and to a greater or lesser degree (depending upon the individual woman): need to be loved, friendship, companionship, sex, fun, financial support, having children etc. Also, men have needs that the right woman (or women) can fulfil - and guess what....the mens' list isn't very different from the womens' list.

What use do any of us really serve.. as humans we all should try to :
-love and nurture our children
-protect our person and our planet
-assist those in need
-continue creativity
-always try our best at everything we attempt
-to make life better for all
As a guy I am not offended by your question, however as a human I do worry when I hear people question the mear existance of others (whether it is another race, religeon, life style or in this case thier gender)

My roll in life, first and foremost, is to be the best father and husband I can be. My wife and my girls are more important than anything in the world. Doing what it takes to keep them, fed, warm and in a loving home is my job. My wife works too, and we share this responsibility, along with all the other household chores, equally. She is my best friend, not my bit_h. I would like to think that I contribute to society too. When I go to work and do my job, I do the best I can. When I get home, I enjoy my daughters all I can, because they are only young once.

Our role as a human being is to purified ourself at the point we don't have to ever be born again in this Material Nature.
As a man, we have the responsibility in our shoulder to protect the woman and the children, the elderly and the cows and the country...
We are the caring and responsible father; we are the faithful and provider husband...
Sadly, without spiritual culture, man uses his power and ability just to gratify himself in a demented selfish attitude... woman became just a doll and children left without personal care and love and the mother became food (the cow, since she who provides milk for us, she is our mother) .

Depends on what the woman needs and the man's ability to give. This is a two way thing. But not everyone is compatible.
