Every year, there is trade talk about Manny Ramirez, yet he never goes anywhere. I wish they would just trade him and get it over with.

When you sign a player for that much money over a longterm deal, this is what you get every single time...a prima donna with a huge ego that is very hard to unload.

It happened with Manny Ramirez.
It happened with Pat Burrell.
It will happen with Alfonzo Soriano.

The Red Sox would either have to eat a large part of his salary in a trade for somebody decent, or to trade him for nothing of value just to unload the contract. No team in all of Major League Baseball will accept Manny for two years with the current money owed if they have to give up a decent player in exchange.

The Sox will be stuck with him until the contract expires, because they're not willing to do what is necessary to unload him.

He wants out. They want him out. The problem is, no one else is willing to pay him the money the the Red Sox are. He has the right to approve whether or not he will be traded.
The Red Sox need to stop bending over for him every time he rumbles about a trade. Where is the backbone in that organization. Maybe they sold it to the Yankees with the Babe.

Face it he's a terrific player. It's a tough thing to replace a 125+ RBI and 40+ HR guy that hits for average as well. I think the Red Sux are friggin wicked crazy to think about it. Who cares if Manny is unhappy. Was he unhappy when he signed that GIGANTIC contract? He's the perfect hitter to hit behind Ortiz. If he goes pitchers will walk Ortiz to pitch to JD Drew.

NEVER, as long as he produces as he has all of his career. He will not be traded now, and will bat fourth behind Ortiz and ahead of Drew. That will be a fierce middle if the order for any pitcher to face.

Chow!!

to answer your question, people will tire of him when he ceases to be a terrifying hitter.
he's difficult to trade because of his contract. the team would have to eat a big chunk of his contract to make him more palatable to other ball clubs.

The Redsox just are not getting anyone of equal value back, albeit they probably never could, but I am getting sick of it myself.
