Look at the money being thrown around this off season. You can't blame the Yankees for that.

Ain't it the truth!! Some weeks ago I mentioned that very thing and was blasted for it. The fact is the Yankees are the most high profile team in baseball so it only stands to reason that they would be the target of all the jealousy. Another fact is that regardless of how much others might despise the Yankees all team strive to be like them. It's only natural to want to be a winner and the Yankees are exactly that. I respect the true baseball fan because they understand where I'm coming from. You're right, no one can blame the Yankees for Boston spending $70 millions dollars for JD (I'll never play in Philadelphia) Drew. How dumb was that? Hell, even the Phillies are starting to spend money and I thought I'd never see that!!!

People are right when they say that big spending doesn't guarantee a championship. What it does is at least give that team the best chance of winning and that's all you can ask for.

ALL sports teams are trying to "buy" a championship. The Yankees get singled out because MLB's financial infrastructure favors them.

I am not a Yankees fan -- far from it -- but you can't fault Steinbrenner for taking advantage of a system that gives his team the upper hand. Not leveling the playing field, financially, has alienated a lot of would-be baseball fans, and has hurt the game as much, if not more, than steroid abuse.

I think the money being thrown around this year can be mostly contributed to Scott Boras. He's a very shrewd agent, and he knows how to squeeze every penny from these owners.

While it is easy to blame The Yankees, it is not really their fault.

My thing with The Yankees is SOME (not all) of the fans, and their attitude. Some of them think that they will automatically win the WS every year. And while they do have a good chance every year to win, you actually have to play the games to decide.

everybod feels the need to compete in free agency with the yankees due to years of the yankees spending tons of money on players through freeagency and trades and yes this still boils down to it being the yankees's fault for all of this crazyiness that's going on in free agency and you yankees fans don't want to see it this way but guess what every time you yankees fans ask a question like this i'm going to keep bring it up

It is absolutely absurd to see the kind of money being thrown at this group of players. Some of them are good but most of them are in a lower tier and they're still getting incredible contracts. No Cutie Pie you can't blame the Yankee's for this years explosion but its not over yet. I hope Cashman keeps his cool.

I suppose other teams are catching up. After all, they Yankees have had the policy of trying to buy a championship every year since the late 70's.

Yankee fans aren't happy that other teams are now willing to compete with their checkbook.

Doesn't really matter though. Big money teams like the Yankees have a history of choking in the post season...especially the Yankees, who have choked every year for the past six seasons.

My Los Angeles (California, Anaheim, etc.) Angels have been trying to buy a championship since 1976. I guess it finally paid off in 2002.
