You want a MOUTHPIECE PATCH to stop your bottom teeth from doing damage from repeated gouging into the underside of your mouthpiece. They come in different thicknesses and usually cost between $4-8.

could it be a reed protector? a reed pad? a mouth piece cover? or how about a mouthpiece pad?

mouthpiece patch, but be careful, you gotta adjust the embouchoure or else the sound gets extremely flat (If you don't have an adjustable neck piece, just lip it up or down.)
