You'd think that being as old as you are, you would have more intelligence and maturity. Just because you support a cause, does not mean you have to drop everything to go participate in that cause. I support the cause of our local police and firefighters, but I"m not running off to join them either.

I have 5 years invested in my chosen career, it would be stupid to waste that investment and go enlist just because I support the decision to go to war. If the war was on a larger scale (like WWII) or we were badly missing our enlistment goals (we aren't) then maybe it would be a different story. However, for the moment, there is no great emergency, so it would be stupid to give up my career.

Why don't you quit your career and go become an activist if you are so against the war? It goes both ways.

Well said. the trouble with these kid`s is they are essential fed on a hollwood depiction of what war is. Maybe if they held the shattered, blood soaked body of an innocent dying child in their arms, as i have. They would not make such stupid f*cking remarks concerning a very, very serious subject. I find it almost impossible to get people to understand the disasterous, inhuman nature of war. Being 7000 miles away watching it on the news, sitting in a comfy armchair, is no substitute at all for the sheer gut wrentching terror of being there. When they have shed tears of fear, loss and pain as you and i have. Then they will understand war is not right. There are better ways.

Excuse me, we are not all young people who support President Bush. As with you, many of us or our spouses served in other wars including Vietnam and WWII.

The worst thing that happened to this country was getting rid of the draft. Too many fatherless crack heads today getting up at noon, loafing on street corners, and getting shot at in drive-bys. I believe that in Israel all 18 year olds must serve their country, that's the way it should be here.

Based on the level of knowledge and insight that I see, most are probably not old enough to enlist. And that goes for those who support and oppose the war.

I couldn't agree more. If you voted for Bush, pack your seabag because it's your turn to fight his war for hallibuton profits

They learn the rhetoric of the neocons in their homes, schools, and churches. In case you missed it, there are culture wars going on in the United States. The religious right, who by the way are neither religious nor right, are seeking to make their xenophobic and parochial agenda the law of the land. Wake up! Get involved in your local grass roots political movement. Try meetup.com or democracy for america.
