to let the steam/air out when cooking so they cook faster, remain crisp and don't warp.

It makes them more aerodynamic so you can eat them faster. Actually, that's probably not true. I would imagine it prevents them from puffing up while baking... Though you'd think Keebler wouldn't have to, because a magic tree oven should just make everything perfectly the first time...

Maybe it has something to do with speeding up the cooking and cooling process for the product. The faster you heat up and cool something down, the more britlle or crispier it is.
