Due to medical reasons I'm having to schedule a c-section and I'm kinda nervous about the surgery. Would anyone be kind enough to share their experience with me? (both good and bad- but please be completely honest). I've heard some good stories and some real horror stories, and as I said I'm just really nervous about the whole thing. Any thing shared would be appreciated.

I have had 2 c-sections, and with my first one i was like you but its not as horrible as it sounds, first you will arrive and they will come in and prep you like the i.v, then they will hook you up to the heart monitor of for the babys heartbeat, and then they come in and shave your pubic area, and then when it is time to go back they will take you back to the operating room, and they will inject the epidural in your back* im sorry to tell you this one, but it hurts like heck,* then you will start going numb from feet up to the bottom of you boobs, and then they put a blue sheet up in front of you face , with your arms stretched out beside you, your wide awake during this process, they also put the catheter in after your numb and you wont feel it go in,let me tell you girl, its all worth it when they put the baby up above the blue sheet and you see his or her face for the first time, the afterwards is the worse, hurts the worse, when you cough it will feel like your opening up, its hard to walk, talk, breath at times, but i would go thru it all over again to see my babies be born again, its the most graceful thing in the world. good luck and god bless i hope this helped out some!

I had to have an emergency c-section with my second child(I have 3). They did not do the bikini cut either. It was not that bad, I had 18 staples from bellybutton down, the worst part is my scar, but I scar bad anyway. Just make sure that you get up and walk as soon as you can, yes it will hurt however after you have stomach surgery if you don't walk you will have the most painful gas you have ever had in your life! And make sure you take a small pillow to the hospital with you to hold pressure on your stomach when you cough or sneeze. Oh! By the way if you have another child you don't automatically have to have another c-section I had my 3rd completely natural. Good luck with this and try not to stress to much it is not good for the baby. If you have any questions feel free to contact me I will help if I can!

I had my first natural and my second emergency c-section. I really didnt have time to be nervous because of the emergency part. It went really fast. They had to knock me out so I wasnt even awake during it. Since they knocked me out nobody could be in the room with me except doctors and nurses.
After the surgery they are suppose to get you up and moving around but being that I was so sick they were not able to. So my recovery time was longer. Normally it is 3 days but mine was 8 days in the hospital. I had her on the 17 of December and got to go home on Christmas day. I think that was the worst part.
It doesnt matter how they enter this world as long as you show them the love that is in your heart.

Good luck. Everything will be just fine.

I have had two, but that was several years ago, and I was actually asleep during both. But the recovery was fine for me. My daughter just had hers two months ago, and did great! She said the experience was wonderful being awake the whole time. She was up and about the day after. I told her the quicker she moved around, the better. I think that is very important! Also it does take awhile to just get your energy back. You will do fine and when you hold that baby, it will be worth it. Be positive and Good Luck!

I wasnt planning on having a c-section, I was induced at 6 am and the nurse kept asking me if I felt any contractions, and I didnt but she said they were off the chart but I didnt feel them. Then around 10 I started feeling them and they gave me Stadol, it wore off about 11:30, and they couldnt give me anymore that soon, thats when it got bad, everytime I had a contraction the babys heart rate would go down real low, like 40. They ended up having to put fluid back up in me, my husband went to smoke and while he was gone they put an oxygen mask on me, imagine how scared he was when he came back. Her heart rate wasnt getting any better so they said I had to have a c-section, I was scared to death, I didnt want to but it was best for her. And I didnt feel a thing it was awesome I didnt feel the epidural either not at all. It really wasnt that bad. I had I think around 7 staples, you get sore where they cut you but it goes away. My bones were too small for her to fit through and she had a cone head where she tried to fit, poor thing. But the c-section part isnt bad, just waiting on your baby is the hard part. Good Luck and congratulations on your baby. My husband and I are trying to have another one too, hope everything goes smoothly.

I had My first born by emergency c-section. After 60 hours of attempting to have her naturally the doctor told me she was stuck and that I was too narrow in the pelvic area to deliver her myself. They started an epidural which I was very frightened to have after hearing horror stories. The drug guy had to do it between my contractions which is tricky. Within minutes of him getting it in and going I was feeling no pain! He poked me with a needle to see if I was feeling anything and I didn't even mind and normally I'm scared spit less of needles!

I didn't get to see her born but my partner said that they had a bugger of a time getting her out. Yanking her back and forth.

Recovery was tough because I wasn't allowed to carry or lift anything over 10 lb and my daughter was 9lb! My pain wasn't that bad. I wasn't allowed any T3 as I was breastfeeding so made due with reg Tylenol and Advil. I found it really hard to not over do it. I found it painful to lift, bend and sometimes just to sit down.

If your in-laws and out-laws offer to help while you are recovering take them up on the offer because it is really tough to look after yourself and the baby when you are in pain.

Having had 2 kids differently - one naturally and one C, I would have another one naturally. It was a quicker recovery - just as painful because of tearing but I was more mobile afterwards.

My mom had a c section. She went thru a lot of discomfort. You need to take good care of yourself, get a lot of bed rest and eat healthy. Don't lift anything really heavy. God Bless
