NYC = New York City, is in New York State. It is not the capitol of New York. New York is in the North East United States. I can understand why you would ask this only if you are to young to know anything about the geography of the USA, or a foreign national that has never seen a map of the USA.

New York City consists of not just Manhattan but also the 4 other boroughs of the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. NYC lies at the south end of New York State and lies east of the Hudson River.

With Manhattan near center, the Bronx is adjacent on the north side. Queens lies to the East, Booklyn to the Southeast and Staten Island to the south.
