I was shocked to find an entire load of wash stained with the ink from a pen that mysteriously jumped into the dryer, (no one left it in their pocket, yea right) My concern is the inside of the dryer has blue ink covering the drum and I am afraid this will trasfer to the next load.

You might try WD-40 and then a cleaner of some kind to get the WD-40 out. You don't really need the cleaner if you wipe it good. De-Solv-It would work good too. You can find that in the cleaning section at Wal-Mart. I think if you like put in a load of levis and dried them most of the ink would be gone anyway. Otherwise the two cleaners I mentioned will work.

1) Make absolutely sure the dryer is cool.
2) If it's electric, unplug it.
3) If it's gas, unplug it and be sure there's no pilot light (unless your dryer is really old, it will be an electronic ignition).
4) Use rubbing alcohol on a rag to remove ink.
5) Leave dryer door open for 1 hour and do not use (or plug it back in) until all the fumes have dissipated.

This happened to me. I bought some Goo Gone at the store. I used a cloth and removed all of the ink. I then place three or four old wet towels in the dryer with a bounce dryer sheet and ran it for an entire cycle. It got rid of the ink and the smell of the Goo Gone. Trust me. Your dryer will look brand new.

Wipe out the washing machine and dryer with a sponge and smooth cleanser like dishwashing liquid. You can run a bath of water within the washing machine to be certain. Try using hair spray. Spray some hair spray onto the spot and let it set for a few minutes. Then take a slightly abrasive pad, wet it and rub it vigerously. Then repeat the process. If this does not work apply rubbing acohol dirctly to the surface and rub vigerously. That should work. If not using a low grade sand paper will work but it will deface the surface.
