People go on about the conservatives, when really the taxes were lower then and imigration wasnt so much of a problem. Do people know what they are voting for?? Why vote for labour when they are making a lot of people struggle?

1. Some people vote for Labour because Labour is supposed to represent the lower class people. ( I personally do not think that this is true anymore); 2. They vote Labour because their parents and everyone around them always vote Labour. 3. They read the Labour manifesto (which sounds good) and vote because they like their policies.

I personally vote differently at each election according to how each party are going to best serve this country, I have never believed any of Labour's policies, so have never voted Labour.

I would dispute that taxes were lower when the Conservatives were last in power. Certainly, income tax rates were higher and there wasn't a lower band. The Conservatives argue that we pay more by way if 'hidden' or indirect taxes, but then they would, wouldn't they? The electorate has a certain expectation of the services that it wishes Government to supply - the NHS, education, new roads, adequate public transport, public libraries etc etc., and this all cost money and has to be paid for - and they only way a government can raise money is by taxation. If a future Conservative government tried to cut taxes it would only be at the margin, and hardly noticeable.

Further this Gov. has tried to mitigate the tax burden by introducing measure such as child tax credit and pension tax credit.

Immigration is not a problem, it is only perceived as such by certain organs of the popular press, The Daily Torygraph, Daily Wail, Daily Depress. We are in the EU which allows free movement of people between member states so some come from poorer countries in the EU to seek jobs here. Equally, numbers of older people swan off the France, Spain etc to live out their retirement, so in many ways it's a two way traffic.

Life has always been a struggle. Please do not be naive and think that a change in Government will change anything. I've lived long enough to realise that life for the average person is just the same whatever party is in power.

One reason not to vote Conservative? David 'Baby Face' Cameron who seems a total plonker.

Any government of whichever persuasion should not serve more than two terms, this is the main problem, thatcherism was the same.
They have been in power for too long, have become complacent and forgotten their original aims and ideals

Therefore I can't think of any reasons at all, let alone good reasons.
So I only answered your question (or not as the case may be!) because I love your Avtar.

i voted labour last time and realised it was a big mistake. i will never vote for a labour govt because it tells lies and keeps increasing the tax burden on everybody.

no point living in this country because money has no value, everything is expensive and we are taxed excessively.
next they will tax us for braething in oxygen

i dont have anything nice to say for them. before they came into power my take home pay was more and i was less burdened with tax

not everyone is striving for low taxes - obviously, they have to be affordable, but original labour would be happy to pay taxes that are funding the structure of health, transport etc.

and I don't think that immigration is a great problem really, but labour occupy roughly the same, right-wing ground as the conservatives anyway so what's the difference?

As for your 3 reasons, I'm stuck, as I vote lib dem.

There aren't three good reasons - I can't even think of one.

I don't think any of the parties are worth voting for at the moment - none of them seem to stand for anything - no wonder people don't bother any more.

Not good for democracy...

there is no reason to support labour - they have ruined everything, lied, sent ill prepared troops to war, set criminals free, sold honours for cash (the rumours suggest), they are scum - whiter than white tony said - yes well i hope he feels guilty to the end of his days for what he has done to other human beings on this planet

Conservatives are not really a devolutionary party, so Wales might lose its assembly. They are all about the rich getting much richer, and they like privatising things and closing pits.
