My 5 week old son sounds as if he is congested when he starts moving around when he is trying to wake up or stretching. I can not tell if it is in his sinuses or throat. The doctor said his nose was clear but I hear something. He clears his throat alot and the doctor said she believes he as reflux(EVEN THOUGH HE DOES NOT SPIT UP OR THROW UP) and has order an Upper GI. Does anyone have any suggestions..... Also this morning when I changed him he had a hint of blood in his diaper where the head of the penis lays. I have noticed that it is slighty red every now and then at the tip of it but not enough to make me take him to the doctor.

Wow this question is kinda scary, my baby is 3 weeks old and I just went through the SAME thing......My little guy has reflux as well and sounds very congested even gasps sometimes when I am feeding him....I asked his doctor and there is nothing wrong with him, the best thing to do is feed him sitting on your lap and hold the back of his head (sitting in upright position) then burp him every 1 oz, that has helped me out a lot....Also keep him upright for 30 min after each feeding.....it is very hard to do when it is the middle of the night but if you don't and you lay him on his back he will sound like he is gasping for air cause the formula comes up........

the penis the same thing happened to me, he was circumcised and i thought i did everything right but I opened his diaper one morning and there was a little blood in his diaper as well......even if there is just a little please make the doctor see you, I did the same and didn't go and then a blister appeared on the tip of his penis which is cleared up now do to me putting the antibiotics that the doctor subscribed........If you have anymore questions please feel free to email sounds like we are in the same boat....:)

Not enough to take him to the doctor? I think I would even if its cleared up or at least call and ask what the problem may be. As for the congestion you can run a humidifer in the room or run a hot shower and sit with him in the bathroom for about 10 minutes.

It may be nothing but talk to your Dr. let them know you feel something isn't right. Ask them about RSV, my daughter had it when she was a baby. She was congested they did an antigen test and then a chest X-ray. RSV is serious and Left untreated can be fatal. But some babies get congested a lot and it is nothing.

About the congestion, use saline drops and sucntion his nose. About the blood I think I would be concerned. Call the dr!

Amazingly effective. I get a tickling runny nose and runny eyes with my colds that drives me nuts. The nose stopped running within a minute. Now to stop the runny eyes. This method must stop the blood flow to the nasal tissues.
