The Yanks love to sign old pitchers, so I'd say it's a strong possibility.

Yankees don't need another power hitter, Abreu, Rodriguez, Giambi, and Matsui, Posada can ever have his name up there. In the Yankees playoff run they had players like Paul O'Neil, Bernie Williams, and Tino Martinez in the middle of their line up, thats not a ton of power yet they got the job done, 4 times. Power isn't everything and those teams proved it having their team based off of their solid starting staff.
I hope they do get Pettitte and maybe even Rocket mid-season. Starting the season their rotation will possibly be Wang, Mussina, Pettitte, Karstens or Johnson (depending on whether Johnson has recovered from surgory and even if Pavano is healthy) and Igawa. Hopefully Pavano goes somewhere but if not whatever no big deal. My hopes is that their playoff rotation will be Wang, Moose, Pettitte, Clemens, and Johnsons. You got the young power arm, 2 finesse pitchers, and the old power arms. Im doubting they will get Clemens though but still without him they would have a solid 4 man rotation come playoff time. For first base i don't know why the yankees just give Andy Phillips a chance, he proved last year he can play in the bigs why not give him first base full time, never know he could be like Scott Brosius who was the x-factor for the yankees in their 90's dynasty.

I think Andy Pettite would be a great signing for 1 or 2 years because he knows the Stadium and the pressure in NY but I think he may be using NY to drive up his signing with Houston. I hope I'm wrong
They need Proctor more in the bullpen so what you've heard was just rumors. They will sign Igawa and they'll have at least 5 starters to chose from.
I really hope they pass on Zito. Since his Cy Young Year he's been mostly erratic and that could indicate that he's on the down side or maybe theres arm trouble. Its a whole lot of money to sign him and I don't think that he's worth the money.
Starters. Wang - Mussina - Igawa - Unit - Pettite.
Giambi is going to move to DH. He can't play like he used to and that really wasn't too well at all. I would love to see Andy Phillips be given a chance to blossom at 1st base. He's got a great glove and if he's playing all of the time his bat might come around.
Damon is a terrific lead off man. That being said I agree with you about his arm but he covers a lot of ground on fly balls and sacrifices his body going after them. I like his spirit and when he gets on he can disrupt the opposing pitchers.

I don't think Pettite will come to the Yankees. His heart wants to play in New York, but his family's hearts want him to play in Houston. Family always wins. Scott Proctor is training to be in the rotation IF NECESSARY. I don't think that will be the case though.
Starting Rotation:
Wang, Mussina,Johnson, Pavano, Igawa
The Yankees don't need another power hitter. They are fine with that. I thought they'd get Zito, but if Gil Meche gets 55 million for 5 years.. I don't want to see Zito's numbers. Giambi will see most of his time at DH, while the Yankees are talking to Shea Hillenbrand. But, I think they will put Andy Phillips out there again this season. I think Damon is fine.. He is a great leadoff hitter with surprising pop in his bat. His arm isn't great, but then again, the Yankees won with Bernie's arm in center. They can do it with Damon's, also.

Pettitte will stay in Houston, as well Roger Clemens. They say on ESPN that where Pettitte goes, Clemens goes. They are both from the Houston area. Clemens doesn't want to leave there so he can be at home. Probably the same with Pettitte. Sorry NY, but Andy is staying home.

If The Yankees do get Andy P., that just might put them over the egde. As A Tiger fan, I would be worried. He has been there before, and won a few post season games. Maybe, just maybe, with Mr. P they might get past the first round.

in my opinion, Patterson could have made the group. yet Albaladejo stands out as the single to be despatched down while Andy comes lower back. Out of the 4 that made it on the group over him, Traber became into the terrific. i think of we are gonna see the two Ohlendorf or Bruney be despatched down sometime in could or June. If that occurs I beleive Patterson will arise counting on how he's dealing with himself. curiously he became into particularly overwhelmed while he found out he have been given decrease.
