Both bands are great and it's not possible to compare the two. They're like apple and oranges. Green Day is like a punk inspired combination of the Clash and the Who, whereas the Foo Fighters are like metal/punk influenced 70's rock gods. They both rock, but have completely different sounds.

Green Day wins every time, while Foo Fighters are good, Green day is known and more widely advertised.

Green Day - I simply like their songs better. I do like Foo Fighters as well, but if I had to choose, it's Green Day.

i like neither but i'd have to take green day's old stuff over foo fighters, but i don't like the new green day. 19.

Both!! well because there are songs that the Foo fighters are famous for and there are also songs which the Green day popularized too. so it is up to the person's choice and personality to which they much likely to fit there persona. but for me i like them both!!
