The boy's name is Christopher Robin - based on Christopher Robin Milne, son of the "Winnie the Pooh" author, AA Milne. He was never actually called that at home, preferring to be known as "Billy Moon". All the toys in the story were really his own toys, including Pooh, who was really called Edward Bear. As an adult, Cristopher Milne came to bitterly resent the shallow celebrity of only being famous for being Winnie the Pooh's friend. You can read his memoirs "Beyond the World of Pooh".

Winnie and the different characters (different than Kanga) are intentionaly saved particularly gender-impartial for toddlers so as that girls folk like or come across with the countless characters and so do boys. this is extra touching directly to the guy personalities that each and each character reflects that youngsters use to 'choose' their popular Winnie the Pooh character.
