I have no fireplaces but my home is heated by oil. Do I need to get my chimney sweeped?

Normally, no. Oil does not leave creosote which is the flamable deposit left by wood burning. If you think there is buildup or leakage from the exhaust flue you should have it checked by a professional but a sweep isn't normally needed.

I also have a home heated by oil. Normally the heating oil doesn’t produce as much of a by-product as wood would but you would be surprised by the amount of crap (soot) you can still get out of the chimney and it’s a good time to check if the chimney liners has any cracks or defects. I clean mine right before lighting it for the season.

It wouldn't hurt the cleaner your chimney is the less chance of a chimney fire.
