I live in a converted attic. Behind my walls there is a hollow triangular space where the roof meets the top of the walls. I have access to this area and as it has a floor it is completly safe to walk about in. However each night for about a week I have heard something walking/scratching and jumping about in my attic space. When i open the door it has run away. I live on the third floor in a stone house in Scotland. What animal is it most likely to be and what can I do to get rid of it?

It's most probably a rat or a squirrel. Get your council's pest control department in as they can spread disease.

If you are hearing scratching, it is probably a mouse or a squirrel.

If you can hear it "jumping about" then it is more likely a squirrel.

Get a "have a heart" live trap, trap it, and release it outside.

If it is a squirrel, you need to find the opening that it got into the house through and close it up. If a squirrel gets into your house they can do terrible damage by chewing on window frames, etc.

It is most likely to be a mouse, a rat or it could be a bird that is trapped.. Other animals would not be likely to live permanently in houses. To get rid of it it must be caught and shown the way out of your house. Bait and traps are recommended. Your local council should have a pest control officer.

Could be a bird, rat, mouse, bat. Could be a tiny reptile of some sort. Try putting a night vision camera up there and watch to see what happens. Good Luck

man that can be anything from a cat, to a squirl, to a racoon or possum, or any other number of rodents. Some would even suggest your place is haunted. Set a trap. There are lots of places you can get a live trap to humanly catch the critter. Good luck

Probably a squirrel.
Usa a rat trap and bait it with peanut butter. And dont get all caught up in killing the poor cute thing.
Squirrels are nothing more than rats with furry tails.

rat or mouse. they often come indoors this time of year, looking for a winter nest for thier young.

Lots of humane and killing traps available. You have to be patient with them, set them, try one area, move it around etc. Use sweet bait like chocolate with cornflakes pressed into it.
