A recall is an election to force a man from office.
A vote of "no confidence."
For sufficient reason should the people who elected a man be able to replace him?

In times like these the voters should have the option to recall a failed president. At this time we can only get rid of Bush if he is successfully impeached. That is not going to happen because the Democrats are going to play politics and not impeach him. They want to show they are above the endless investigations that the Republicans subjected Clinton to. This despite Bush having actually committed impeachable offenses and Clinton didn't.

We cannot recall a president. We can impeach a president. Impeachment is a long process. If impeachment proceedings began against Bush now, they would not be likely to be finished before the end of his term.

The expense of a presidential recall, even if it were legal, would be overwhelming. So would the logistics. Think about it. Who would ask for a recall? What would be the criteria? How long would it take to get up the voting machines and staff to handle it?

Furthermore, the president is NOT chosen by a simple majority of the popular vote. Bush is proof of that. The president is chosen by the electoral college.

Each state has the number of electoral votes equal to the number of people they have in the house of representatives. If the majority of votes in any ONE state goes to a candidate, that candidate gets ALL the electoral votes of that state.

The framers of the constitution established the electoral college as a buffer against mass hysteria. Good or bad, it is there. So, since the people do not elect the president, we cannot remove him.

Not going to happen. The Framers of the US Constitution didn't feel it was necessary to be able recall a President. There is no provision which allows recall of a President. It would take a Constitutional Amendment, which needs to be ratified by 3/4 of the US states. Good luck with that!

Presidents aren't recalled, they are impeached.
But I think (could be wrong) that the concept of "No confidence" is one that is used by governments of the British commonwealth, and not the US.

Sounds like a good idea. but it has one flaw. If we get rid of wannabe King George, then for the next two years we have to put up with Sleazy Dick Cheney.
