If anonymity is so important, why would James Bond be going around telling everyone his real name? Isn't he in the Secret Service?

I don't think that the anonymity of his name is so much as important as what he does. He doesn't go around telling people that he's a counter-agent and a professional assassin. The name only means something to us because we are familiar with the character. The other characters in the movie are not necessarily aware of Bond's reputation and history.
By the way, he works for the British Secret Intelligence Service, or MI6

The character "James bond" has always been dependent on gadgets and Sci-Fi Gizmos although lately he's been portrayed as a more serious character without gadgets which in my opinion is a bit of a rip off of the Bourne Identity. Overall i like Jason Bourne more as he can do whatever James bond can do without the use of gadgets.

I know what you mean, Bond does do that to everyone! I was watching "A View To a Kill" and when Roger Moore used that same line on a firefighter, I laughed.

If the audience couldn't identify the character, it'd hardly be entertaining to watch. His monicker is merchandising, not intended to mirror a real-life situation.
Real spies don't have to fight giant guys with metal teeth, amazon-like Grace Jones assassins, or fly stolen Space shuttles to secret private space stations, either.

And anyway, "Bond, James Bond" is much cooler than "Tinglehoffer, Dewey Tinglehoffer".
