the cell phone company will do a credit check on you and as long as you have good credit they will aprove you for an account. the only way to get credit is through credit cards and credit companys wont look at you if you are under 16. some kids got it made cause there parents opened them an credit account when they was younger and added them to there cards so they have been establishing credit so those kids might be able to be younger.
anyway if you have a social security number in the united states and that number has a good credit score you can get a cell phone at 16

that depends i guess, you can get a cricket phone at any age their plan is unlimited mins text and crap like that for 45 but after tax its really 55 they have no credit checks no contracts and you just pay monthly at a site, now i don't know if they have them in your area or not but if they don't then sorry to say 18 and you'll have to put down a deposit unless by some miracle you have good credit at that age
