No, I'm not buying it. I do agree with the other answer that it is nearly the end for Hayden, McGrath, Langer, Martyn and probably Gilchrist too. Because Warne doesn't actually have to do too much to bowl, he can last for another couple of years. I know it stresses his shoulder, but not much else. Besides I think he will play until he finally cracks that hundred that keeps eluding him!
Between now and the next Ashes Australia have Zimbabwe(a), Sri Lanka(H), India (H), Pakistan (a), W Indies (a), Bangladesh (H), India (a), NZ (H), SA (H), then SA (a) then 2009 Ashes, so that is pretty much just enough for him to get his 1000th test wicket and retire in England.
This is the team I think will play the first Ashes test next time in England in 2009:
1.Jacques (NSW)
2.Paine (TAS)
3.Ponting (TAS)*
4.Hussey (WA)
5.Clarke (NSW)
6.Watson (QLD)
7.Haddin (NSW)+
8.Warne (VIC)
9.Lee (NSW)
10.Johnson (QLD)
11.Clark (NSW)

12.Tait(SA)
and I think McNamara will be the next spinner when Warne does go. He is a great young orthodox lefty in the mould of Ray Bright.

Lets face it .. love or hate him .. Warney is a very talented bowler. But lately he seems to be taking longer and longer to have any sort of impact on an innings. Stuart Macgill has been in his shadow for so long I believe if this isn't Warneys hoorah from cricket, then it most definately should be. Experience goes a long way, but there is so much talent around they should be making the most of. Warne has had his time in the sun .. now he needs to make way for the up and coming.

If that is the word from Warne himself, then yes.
Best hope is he gets into the developmental side of cricket
and passes on the art of wrist spin-bowling!

No I think he will play in the next Ashes series also.
But I think it will be McGrath, Hayden and Langers last series.

I dont think so. He may continue few more years unless prevented from playing due to some other reasons such as injury etc.

If he gets to 700, he could call it a day at Sydney. But what will he do after that?
