Drink a lot of water before, during and after your flight. Avoid alcohol at all cost, especially during long flights. It is dehydrating and messes up with your sleep patterns. When you arrive at your destination, try to sit comfortably in a chair, close your eyes for about 20 minutes and let your thoughts wonder. You might fall asleep doing this but it Will be OK because this little catnap will energize you, long enough to stay awake until you it is time for you to go to bed. Take a shower after this, if you really, really want to be feel fresh. You would be amazed at how quickly you can overcome jet lag of any kind.

I try to go to bed at the normal time of the destination. If I am not tired already, a nice hot shower usually helps. Drinking a warm drink helps to relax too, or a bit of light exercise, and sometimes reading helps.

If I am too tired and it is still a long time till the normal destination time to go to bed, I set the alarm so that I only allow myself to have a little nap (absolute maximum of 1 hour!). This is just to be able to cope for the rest of the day until the real bed hour.

The key is to try to go to bed at the correct time of the destination.

the worst thing you can do for your body is nap when u have jet lag. instead force yourself to stay awake until a normal bedtime, then set your alarm so you wake up at a normal hour in the morning. force your body back into it's schedule. if you have trouble, take a melatonin before going to bed.

Hot shower as soon as possible and then lay down for a 1.5 hour nap, get up and shower and then go about business...sort of fools the body into thinking it's well rested.
