I reported this to management informally, she counter alleged that I was racist as I had previously said that I think the Uk should close its borders as were stretched to capacity. we were both suspended and I have to attend a disciplinary hearing for gross misconduct next week and she is now back at work.
How can I still be on suspension and an obvious terroist sympathiser be back at work. To make matters worse she is a community worker, supporting people who have fled from war torn countries.

What you have to say sums up this country, All you said was the truth, we are stretched to capacity and the health service, police service and schools will suffer due to this, I hope your employer sees sense.

The sad thing is it will only get worse, as this country is taken advantage of. I'm not racist but we are losing our identity. The country has gone "PC" mad, we are not even allowed to display Christmas decorations at work, because they may offend, also the union jack had to be taken down last year for the same reason, when will it stop.

Growing numbers of people are moving out of the UK, the country our grandfathers fought to protect, back then you were proud to live here, how many can say the same now?

first of all, make sure you aren't being racist. your answer is worded in such a way that implies she is an immigrant and you aren't and that you should therefore have more rights than she, and more leeway to act inappropriately. It sounds to me like you both behaved improperly and maybe you should both be looking for new employment.
That aside, if she said 911 should happen again in the context of say, if the building were filled with a bunch of racists she wouldn't mind if it were bombed, one might understand her frustration and cut her some slack. But really, this statement is intolerable. I sometimes think to myself that Hitler had the right idea but the wrong group of people; should have been folk like Bush. Even that is giving in to evil. It is wrong to behave in such a way; and it is your duty now to put things right by acknowledging that you made mistakes without any buts, without any comparison to her behaviour. Showing yourself in true light is like turning the other cheek. You are not to bring anything toward her at all, ignore her in fact. If she is Muslim, she should have at least some faith as a guideline for her life. She should, therefore spend some time every day thinking about herself and her god. She cannot behave in such a manner a be a "good" Muslim. a true Muslim would never say such a thing,( or do such a thing) Are you Christian? If you are, then you know how you should behave; the advice i've given here is purely Christian. If you aren't Christian, you can still follow the advice and meet with far more peace in your life than your current whingeing about a situation you could have diffused.
I live in Canada, where hate crimes are taken quite seriously. If she seriously means that 911 should happen again, and is telling people this, she should be reported to police

It would be helpful to know the context this person said it in. Maybe they ment that it should be done all over again so we could better react to the aftermath.... But thats probably not the case judging by your reaction. I would contact Scotland Yard or whatever agency in the UK deals with this sort of thing, we have the FBI, and let them know whats going on. But be prepared for a long and nasty ordeal. You may be opening a pandoras box. You could also contact a lawyer. Or just ride it out and see what happens. Good luck.

Things like this make me so mad! Your statement wasn't even racist, it was a fact! Hers was totally out of line, she shouldn't be allowed back to work anywhere here!

The thing is, now people (your boss) are so scared of being accused of racism and losing their job that it is actually going the other way and people like you are getting the raw end of the deal. Its rediculous!

There's so much to say on this topic that I don't even want to get started coz i'll go off on some ranting marathon.

One thing I will say though, your boss is taking the P***!!!

The workplace cannot really deal with terrorism, but it can deal with discrimination. So you're getting hit with the discrimination side of things. You'd have to report her to the police if you want to get her in trouble for her terrorist sentiments. Of course nothing will come of it, but you could still annoy her for a while as she and her family are under scrutiny for a while.

Welcome to the new world order.

Don't you know that discrimination and racism can only occur against anyone other than a caucasian?

Disgusting turn of events isn't it?
