Does it have something to do with salivary enzyme ptyalin digesting starch to maltose?

I think its just because it has sugar in it??????????

It tastes sweet because the complex carbohydrates are broken down to simple sugars by your salivary enzymes. Yes, one of the enzymes in the saliva is ptyalin, also called amylase. This enzyme breaks starch, which is an ingredient in bread, to glucose, maltose, and dextrins.
