you get them from the stretching in your skin, if you dont have them at full term, then you didn't get any during pregnancy. You cannot prevent them. THere is no scientific proof that moisturizing helps. I got them really bad during the first pregnancy. But I ate like there was no tomorrow also. Just pray. I figure it can't hurt to moisturize because think of it this way, was tears easier, dry skin or moistened skin (think of your lips as an example, dry chapped or moistened) I know there is no sure way to prevent them, but i am moisturizing with this one just in case, I figure i dont want more of the stretch marks

My mother put lotion on 3 times a day when pregnant and didn't get one and I didn't and have like 5. My dr told me it was genetic from my fathers side. Maybe ask that side of the family and see if they have them, if so get out the lotion, it can't hurt right?

Use BIO-OIL (less than $15 a bottle) and its not harmful, non greasy and is perfect for fading any signs of stretch marks, scars etc
I gave my friend a bottle and luckily no stretch marks for her, but everyone is different.
USe it twice a day.
another alternative is cocoa butter, but ive tried both and Bio-Oil is number one for me :)
