Caught in the crossfire.?

If anyone has read Alan Gibbons book, "Caught in the crossfire" about fascist thugs who, after 9/11, exploited a small-town tensions and spark a major riot, do they think that it MAY happen?.

I have not read that book but my mother has and when I asked her your question she replied that it it could happen but the exact circumstances and combination of personalities needed will make it very unlikely to happen. Actually I might read it myself - from waht my mum says it sounds a good book.
