to legaly drop out (i did), if you are 16 or older you may drop out of public schooling, you need to talk with the dean or principal to let them know, also if you're under 18 you need your parents permission.

I wouldnt suggest dropping out though unless you are absolutely not able to follow the provided curriculum.

the reason i dropped out was because i had moved to a different school in my junior year and NONE of my credits from the previous school had transfered over.
i thought id wait it out and see if they transfered by my senior year, nope. i wouldve had to take 4 more years of high school, ill pass thanks 3-3/4 years was enough for me.

also try to get info on alternative schools or online schools before making a decision to drop out. if worse comes to worse and you do drop out, try to follow up on a GED as soon as possible as it will greatly assist you in the working world.

for some reason a high school diploma is ranked higher than a GED despite the fact that GED testing standards are MUCH higher than public schooling standards

I had to get my parents permission to officially quit school but then found I was bored because all my friends were in school. I ended up finishing my education at a boarding school. That was much better because it had smaller classes and I didn't feel so lost.

Whe you turn fifteen(?) you legally dont have to go. You simply stop turning up.
I would advise against it though. You will have a better lifestyle if you can find good work that you enjoy. An education will give you more options.
