is it ok to brake without hitting the clutch when you're trying to slow down or to stop. if so, what are the limits?

You can slow down, but you'll have to gear down too. You must depress the clutch to stop or the engine will stall.

You can brake without using the clutch, but when you come to a complete stop both the brake and the clutch must be used or else the car will stall.

yes if u are in 1st gear and you do this there is a higher chance u will stall and also u will stall alot sooner but say if u was doin 70mph on the motorway in 5th gear and u press the brake u dont need the clutch unless obviously you are coming to a complete stop then you will need topress the clutch to save stalling!

of course it's ok. Just hit the clutch when you're really slow, so you don't stall.
