In order to accomplish most things in life people need to work together as a group, each playing a part towards that goal.
Usually there are people who have no part in that group are still affected in some way.
Usually also, there are only a few, or just one person who sets the jobs, responsibilities, and benefits received.
Unless restrained in some way, those who decide will often favor themselves, ignore the needs of the others, and lie about the actual goal.

Actual freedom is:
1. to have a choice in belonging to the group
2 a voice in what the group's goals are.
3 a voice about those groups who affect you.
4. access to the facts about groups, goals and processes
5. the ability to hold accountable those who's decisions are injurious to you or don't hold up their part of the bargain.
6. the ability to prevent such actions from folk not affected.

Good laws help this, bad laws hinder it.

Exactly how all that happens (or not) is what Politics is, Honorable people can differ in the details, but dishonorable people will try and tilt the discussion to benefit only them, calling freedom "selfish individualism".

Some people believe in a fantasy set of rules that preclude the ideas of freedom, and hate and work against freedom. Most are lead by dishonorable people who want all benefits given only to them, with nothing given in return.

Perfect freedom may not be possible, but it is the direction honorable people call progress.

Welfare of the society is most important. Laws are made for the benefits of the society. Freedom guarantees that you are not made slaves. You can exercise your own choice in your daily affairs.
