the 3 little dots at the end of a word / expression or sentence is called ELIPSES. It is there to indicate that a sentence is not complete or to indicate that the writer wants to create an idea of a trailing sentence.
For example if I say:
Example1:
"Oh no..." (it could indicate, that the reader of that piece of writing knows that something horrible is about to happen, and now the main character in the story has just found out too)
Example2:
"I think I'm pregnant..." (it could indicate shock or, if its a teenager telling her parents, she could be waiting for a response after she said that) In this case the ELIPSES have been used to indicate suspense, she is not sure how her parents will react but she leaves her sentence trailing with ...
Example3:
"I may speak in tongues of men...and the greatest of the three is Love" In this sentence I have quoted from the Bible, the 3 dots now have the function of leaving out sentences and paragraphs (which might be perhaps too much to mention if you need to make a quick point). The words BEFORE the dots indicate the start of that part of the Bible, (Corinthians 1, 13 v1-13) and the words AFTER the dots indicate the end of the part you want to talk about.
Example4:
"Well...?" This obviously indicates again, as in example 2, a moment of suspense and expectation of a response.

"..." can be used to show that a list continues, e.g. 1, 2, 3...
However...

:-)

...it can show that there is a break in a sentence, which might, for example, have a picture/image between the two halves of the sentence. It denotes that the sentence continues and is not complete until the other part is read.

Useful when giving instructions.

The three little dots in a sentence are called 'ellipsis', (plural ellipses ) meaning the omission of words from speech or writing. A set of dots indicating such an omission.
