well i guess it jus depends on your own personal values and all..
u cant just go out and shoot someone coz u heard it in a song and all.. but yeah, in a way i agree that censorship is vital in what the govrnmnt allows out on the street... but for some of us who have our own values we subscribe to no amount of 'musical' influence would change it..

i think life without music would be weird what a void it would leave. We are in control of music but once we put the music on it is like an instinct to us to move whether it just be a toe or a vocal chord there is none of us that can ignore the music that we love.

Music is one of the most powerful elements of culture today. It has the ability to override our parents, church leaders, teachers, families and friends. It affects our way of dressing, speaking, relating to others and even our thinking. On both a micro-cultural level and a macro-cultural level, people that listen to similar music tend to socialize with each other.
It can entice teens to early sexual behavior(1), or prompt some young americans to forgo all temptations(2)
The political effects of music deserves a set of encyclopedias on its own. Many artists have been assassinated for political reasons. Ultimately, the desire is always to quell the spreading of the artists' political ideals to their fans. I've always felt that the dude that murdered John Lennon was somehow government funded; it never quite sat well with me that he was such an obsessed freak, he had to kill the object of his obsession.
I've included a link on backmasking(3).This is the placing of messages that require the user to replay the media backwards in order to hear it. A great deal of rock bands used it for amusement purposes. I know of no such ban on subliminal messaging, however.
I had trouble find information carried out by governments in regards to music. I've added another annoying, yet helpful, wikipedia link on subliminal messages.

It would be a waste of time.
Ive been listening to acid, psychedelic, satanic, metal rock music since the 70s and never bit the head off an animal. In fact I would try to save it from any one who would!

for me music has absolute control over my sanity. I went a day without music once and I started going nuts and banging my head off walls. and yeah I suppose it has an affect over who I am and what I wear too because if anyone asked me to describe myself it would be "rock chick" definitely. music is my life.

If the music does something for you in the way of remembering good times or feeling good it's got to be a good thing, don't Analyse it to much enjoy it, it's an inexpensive gift, however much it costs.
