I'm a DM and my huge campaign eventually led the players to the elven plane of Arborea. I've tried to come up with an idea of an enchanting fairy adventure without battles n stuff. I'm stuck! Does anyone know a classic fairy tale with lots of magic and illusion involved? It's ok if it's a cliche or a world famous tale... I just need the spark to begin. Thanks!!!

In the old first-edition tournament campaign, Rahasia, the party reaches an elf village where three princesses have been kidnapped by elf clerics enslaved by black magic. Three witches have enchanted the clerics to do their bidding and these witches are in need of young beautiful bodies to take for themselves. The life force spirits of the elf princesses are held in gems deep within the elvish monastery and it is up to the party to save the ladies, the most beautiful of all is of course Rahasia. The condition is that the elvish servants enslaved by the evil witches are innocent victims and must be spared from a fate of death . . .

There are tons of myths to look to. Try looking into Baba Yaga or Ceridwyn for inspiration about powerful personages. Heck you could even look to children's television shows for inspiration. I remember in a recent campaign one of the parties favorite magic items was a magical map that would show them the way to go to whenever they got lost (Dora the Explorer). Go back and watch a fantasy movie and during the movie say to yourself, "What would it be like if instead of 'x' happening it was 'y'" you will be surprised what you can come up with like that.

I'd suggest getting a book of Hans Christian Anderson out of the library, or maybe a collection of Scottish tales. They have both provided me with a LOT inspiration for all my campaigns.
