He has a job: Deputy Prime Minister. He might not have a spending Department of Government but he chairs a whole number of Cabinet Committees in which other Ministers come together to try and co-ordinate policy and resolve disputes between them.
He is not the first person, nor will he be the last, to collect a particular type of car (whether he can drive them or not).
Of course he will get a pension; he has paid into a pension scheme out of his salary I would suspect for nearly 60 years; certainly as an MP, and I would imagine as a Merchant Seaman (I know my father did, and he was older than Prescott).
To suggest he has something on Tony Blair is groundless. In fact he has damaged his own credibility amongst his old supporters by remaining so loyal to Blair. Better that he followed Robin Cook's example and resigned over the Iraq war, which he disagreed with.

The answer is simple! If Prescott is kicked out, there will be an election for deputy leader of the Labour Party now. Some people would then say - let's have the leadership election now as well, and pressure would mount on Blair to quit now, rather than when he is ready.
Clive H seems to think Prescott is Welsh; I thought he was a Yorkshireman?? Much as I'd hate to see the Tories back, Clive, slogans are meaningless and we want a better today, because tomorrow never comes!!

Look carefully at the leadership of the Labour Party in UK. The majority of top posts are filled by Celts. The Welsh and Scottish Labour Parties are particularly active and capable.
John Prescott is Welsh - he has a mass following in Wales and in England. He will not be kicked out either by Tony Blair or Gordon Brown. Labour needs Prescott.

No sorry it must be because he plays croquette and Blair is using him as a shining example to the rest of his cabinet ministers. He is the only one who can get out of a hole with the flick of his arm and his balls.

There is a skeleton in the Blair past possibly from his uni days.The secret is shared by the gay boy in Brussels which may explain a few things.
