The French revolution was caused by the way the aristocracy and church treated the ordinary citizen. We think of the gap between rich and poor today but that is nothing compared to the French situation where the wealthy had total power over the poor. The situation was very similar to that which existed in Russia where the ordinary citizens were literally slaves. And that went much the same way. I'm sure it was more complicated than that but that is basically it.

i hv this chapter too...
there were 3 castes in france ie.the first estate , the second estate and the third estate .the ppl of the 1st n 2nd estate were like nobles and were treated specially i mean they din hv to pay taxes and all while the ppl of the third estate which consisted of doctors, artisans and common ppl had to pay very high taxes and never used to get proper wages. they had to pay high taxes coz the treasury was empty and this made the ppl of the 3rd estate furious and they started the french revolution wid 2 to 3 ppl of the 1st nd 2 nd estate. yeah and another reason was ppl had no right to vote or anything and never used to get proper treatement!
hope this helps!! all the best
