lately my cd combo drive has been acting up when i go to open it ,it retracts into the computer automatically now it opens but it can't read any of the disks that i put into it i tried using my pc doctor to see if it was damaged but it said nothing is the drive no good? also since this happened i cant use the program i use to burn song (sonic record now!) any ideas on what i should do?

You can replace those drives for about $20 now days. I would just replace it.

Even pc doctor or going into device manager wont tell you that the drive is bad. In my experience as long as the drive is getting power it tells you nothing is wrong.
You can replace that drive with a cheap brand for 20 dollars maybe but not something i would consider quality. But for time sake go get you another drive.They are easy to install. Takes just minutes.

Change the drive. The lens has gone weak and probably the mechnaical mechanism too seems to be erratic in behaviour.

Replace the drive. They do wear out.
