It seems to me this is based on an assumption that you would be better off ditching. You imply there is a single 'place' you want to be in life, but are unclear about how to get there. I would recommend you think of life as a journey and that you think about the route you want to take on this journey.

To think of some fixed state you want to attain is to de-value the process of getting there (as not having value in itself) and also creates a new problem: what do you do when you get to your destination? Thinking, instead, about your route through life, is to attach value to the whole of it and- I suspect- to incline you toward identifying rather different goals!

In spite of "what you want," or "what you do," you may not get what you want in life. Life is "funny" that way. Your question reminds me of something I heard long ago --- "All you can expect out of life is to have cold weather in the winter and hot weather in the summer. If you expect anything other than that, you will be disappointed."

stop thinking, and start doing.

when you see or want to do something, think in small steps how you can get or acheive it, then put the plan in action. it's always grat to think, but to act is the hard part.
