Feel the computer and see if it is hot. Usually, when a computer shuts off suddenly it can be linked to an over-heating problem. Might just need a new fan.

..all good suggestions
another thing to look at is to make sure you haven't disturbed any connections when installing the new CPU.
make sure the fans are working correctly (nboth the system box and fan on the CPU... did you replace the CPU fan aswell as the CPU, if you have installed a faster CPU, generally they need meatier fans heat sinks
did you make sure to repalce the silcion heat transfer compound betwen the CPU & CPU fan
check to make sure all cbales are securley/firmly in the correct sockets, check the memory boards are firmly attached, check all integrated circuits in sockets on the motherboard haven't been dislodged... press them down firmly into the sockets
make sure the bus speed is set correctly for the CPU and the memory
make sure the CPU is compatible with the rest of the system.
modern BIOS are pretty good at detectign what the meory & CPU is, buyt people still try to overclock... and this can cause severe problems

it relatively is a working laptop or trojan horse, yet once you install a sparkling tricky stress and in case you're particular that there is not any virus interior the hot tricky stress, the clarification is on your device board (mom Board), some circumstances Capacitors on the motherboard grew to alter into out of function and can have the skill to function for a quick volume of time, which includes no longer longer than an hour, yet your close down interior 5minutes. yet Please do no longer end that the the priority is on the mother board, previously that attempt right here issues a million. attempt to initiate your pc with secure mode and wait is whether or no longer it shuts down or no longer, 2. re set up homestead windows, for the duration of re setting up delete your disk partitions and format the disk

I bet your fan is clogged up with dust.
Get a can of air from Maplins, unplug it and take the side off. Use very, very short bursts of air and hoover it out, don't touch anything.
Clean out the fan, hoover the air vents, clean the fan on the side of the case.
Also, if you put too much heat removing stuff on the chip it has the opposite effect and makes it heat up faster, you only want a thin layer.
Or you might need a bigger power supply.

is it since you changed the processor that the problems started cos this would give you a BIG CLUE as to where the problem resides. do usual checks- fans, cables, heat dissapation(dust build ups stopping heat leaving components) hardware conflicts(check the IRQ values are all different)from newly installed hardware. get a temperature software program or check temperature in BIOS. it sounds to me from not looking at it myself ,that it is a heat related issue.

You might be infected with a virus or you have an operating system problem. Try to boot in safe mode and see if you can boot, otherwise try reinstalling your operating system, but be careful this might erase all your data. If you don't have any important data just re-install windows and see if this will solve your problem. If you have important data better backup first your data before re-installing your Operating SYstem (Windows?).

Sounds like overheating.
Is there thermal paste or a thermal strip between the cpu and the heatsink?
Is the cpu fan working?

It could be that your power supply might be failing. A newer processor needs more watts than the older.
