in some parts of our society it would seem absurd, but it might be considered by todays generation. this is just an opinion, havent had any real examples in the society as far as i know. cant say what i would do if i was in the place of 'Baabul'.

It is extremely difficult situation. Its very tough to answer either. What i would suggest is that a woman, be married or unmarried or widowed, should not depend on a man or on the society to decide her life. She should first be friend with herself. After all,she has to stand for herself. We should provide them enough space and freedom to take their own decision.
It is though not unheard, but a very rare situation in which the in-laws are getting their daughter in-law re- married.I would really appreciate those in-laws for thinking beyond their own life and getting their daughter -in-law remarried.

The stories of movies are picked up from real life incidents happening in our society. There are in-laws who are nice and love their daughter-in-laws like their own daughters. I agree it is very rare. But our society is changing. The movies have very strong impact on peoples mind. I am glad about the plot chosen for Baabul.

While the questioner wanted to know whether the Babul situations actually obtained in society, majority of the ansewerers have referred him to the picture.(which theoretically could be contrived situation)

But this is not the case. I know many personal instances where the in-laws had risen to the occasion and found a suitrable match for their widowed dauhter in law as they would for their own unmarried daughter. In one case the boy died in a car accident while on his way to the Honeymoon. In yet another instance the boy was a heavy drinker and succumbed to it. His father saw to it that the girls was suitable married bearing all the efforts and expences. In yet another cases they have blessed the union of their daughter-in-law with a boy she had in mind before her bethrothal.

nowadays the daughter in law herself should take her decision and marry a good guy if she's still young and wants to have a partner to spend the rest of her life... I dont know how things are in India but in my country it's accepted that a woman marries again if her husband dies... I'm eager to watch this movie... sounds good
