I am having a problem with an error called a cyclic redundancy check during the download of a game. I have tried downloading the game from many sites, and I have had this game on my computer before, but needed to do a necessary uninstall and reinstall due to some corrupt files. I have tried many types of registry cleaners, and other kinds of programs that help clean out corrupt files on my computer, and so far nothing has worked. I have also done a disk defrag, and a disk check/cleanup. That did not work either. Can anyone help me fix this please? Thank you very much!

In a simpler terms, this is an error that is not in your control, CRC error says data is not meeting the expected authencity check, the error is probably not really error but simply the programmer put in expected value in typo by mistake, it had known to happened once with the ISO file of an early version of Fedora Core Linux.

But since you said you had the game installed before and it was corrupt files prompting you reinstall, perhaps it was the corrupt file stayed on disk and was included in the CRC check.

In simple terms, a CRC is bit of mathematics used to ensure that your data is OK when being transfered. It's a checking procedure that quickly identifies when data has been damaged. If you get this message, it means that the file being read by your PC or software is corrupted.

Perhaps the file is indeed corrupted to begin with or there's too much latent interference between you and the source. You can try using a download manager. Or, God forbid, your hard drive has sector issues.
