About 14 hrs but do try and have a stop over in Dubai, its well worth it. Sri Lanka itself is beautiful and the people are just great. Going myself in February 2007 and this will be the third time. I love it

the hill country is beautiful.
they say the beaches are ok but i never went there.
it is hotter than hell in some places.
horton plains require some walking, and don't go late in the afternoon u can't see five feet in the mist.
u'd better be able to handle some spicy food if u want some of the local cuisine.
mobile phones had trouble in some inland areas last time i went there (3 yrs ago) , but the companies have improved their coverage by now.
it certainly has places worth visiting.

go there its very butityful
most beautiful beaches hikkaduwa,nilawali,every beach (in the world top 10 )
spicy food,
kandy perahara & the city
anuradapura, polonnaruwa, sigiriya, historical places
water falls (county of higest dencity of water falls in the world)
