The greatest velocity of the earth on its axis(28% of 1 mile per second at the equator) & the velocity of the earth around the sun(18miles per second) have little bearing on the ultimate direction in which we on earth travel thru space. Our sun's orbital velocity about the center of the Milky Way galaxy of 200 miles per second does play a greater role in the earth's ultimate velocity vector. However, the direction of our Local Group of galaxies(which includes the Milky Way galaxy with our orbiting sun which includes our orbiting earth rotating on its axis) is headed at 600miles per second in the direction of two stars in the constellation Leo... Regulus called Cor Leonis(Lion's Heart) or Alpha Leonis(85 light year distance & 160 times the sun's brightness) & the star Al Geiba(Lion's Mane) or Gamma Leonis(lovely double star for amateur astronomers, 90 light year distance & 120 times the sun's brightness). These are just local stars to our sun in our earth's nighttime sky. More navigationally meaningful to beings who may travel the galaxies of the Local Group is the far direction beyond Regulus & Al Geiba of the spectacular M66 galaxy group(including M66, M65, & NGC 3628) lying 30 to 35 million light years distant. That be our direction as ferreted out by COBE & other Cosmic microwave background radiation satellite explorers. Find an amateur astronomer to show the M66 galaxy group to you. Then you can ply the dark sky depths of our earth's direction like a ship's captain steer's his course at midnight under the stars of Leo, the Kingly Lion.

Because of all the complex orbital interactions involved, there is no static frame of reference, Therefor all velocity vector measurements are relative, everything is subjective, and the solipsistic view that each of us is the center of our own universe is the only one that leaves us with our sanities somewhat intact. So, lying in bed. our velocity is 0 with no vector and the universe revolves around us. Otherwise, remember the looney tunes where Bugs hides by wearing ad placards and then points 10 different ways at once? To paraphrase the reply to 'Which way did he go,George?':
"We went...", point all ways, "THATTAWAY!!"

Compared to what? You can only measured speed & direction (velocity) relative to some other point which is also moving relative to everything else.
Also speed is distance over time & space is expanding as is time so you have no frame of reference

hmmm... well 'we' aren't moving at all in any direction when we are idle. the earth, sun, galaxy is doing the moving, not us. ;)

we will look like we are going away from each material in space.. e.g. from north pole, we will look like going towards south and from south pole, we will look like going towards north due to cosmoligical speeed..
