This is sort of like the old game Lemonade Stand. You have to balance your staff levels, the amount of content you write for each news area, the timeliness of the news you report, and the timing of the release of the paper.

In a nutshell you have to write and edit stories and put them in your paper. You first must hire your staff and figure out how many people you want in each staff area, remembering that idle staff is still getting paid. So if you have 10 writers but you stop writing 2 days before the release of the paper you have 10 people who are sitting idle and getting paid. But at the same time it costs more to hire a new person than it does to pay an old person so it's a balancing act with the staff.

Next you have to figure out which news stories you want to write. There is a tracking tool that shows you which news areas are of most interest to the public (sports, etc.) and you have to make sure you're writing enough stories in the areas that are of interest to the reading audience.

You also have to edit what you are writing. And you have to figure out how many editors to assign to each piece as well as figuring out how many editors to hire.

And finally you have to remember that stories become available throughout the week of the release cycle so you have to write some stories early and some later to make sure your news is fimely.

Finally, you have to release the paper and sell it. If you've met your audience's needs as far as having timely news that covers the areas that are of interest. If you do well you make more money and you can hire more staff, which helps you to write and edit more and produce more timely news.

I hope this helps.
