Because she is too intelligent to spend all her life on the runway only. She knows that she has another talent to expose. She is smarter than common typical models who already feel fulfilled and proud once they walk on the catwalk. She does realize that modeling cannot be her pillar of life forever. Sooner or later she has to bring her butt away from that phony world. She knows well she has to do something more profound and intelligent using her wittiness.
Tyra as a woman is intelligent and have a smart brain definitely. That's why she does Tyra Banks Show which is I love it so much . In her show never display any shame or embarrassment of fooling herself. Once I saw her rolled over the floor, rolled over herself ON THE FLOOR in her own show.... I remember...and also when she was impersonating Bèyonce... It was truly funny and joyful... I was LOL to see her did that.
But Tyra Banks is really have a brain and smart as a beautiful woman.

I agree with smart rebellion.
I watched the Tyra Banks show a few times and when I seen how intelligent the woman actually is, it became a regular favorite show of mine.
Tyra Banks is intelligent, funny, and compassionate as well as beautiful. Her show presents some real issues instead of riding the middle of the road. It's interesting.
I don't think Tyra Banks actually "retired" from modeling. She will always be a model, but for now she is letting other facets of her life shine. And I for one, am glad.

I read somewhere that they made her retired because she was gettin to big and to old for a model. I think that is crazy and that models should come in all shapes, sizes and ages.

she didn't want to be the stick thin model she was tired of dieting and being thin and wanted to be a normal person without worrying about being thin. plus she felt she had acheived everything she's ever want and now it's time to shre her knowledge she learnt in her life with everyone hense why she does the 'tyra show'.
